The Oil of Gladness prayer group meets at Immaculate Conception Church every Tuesday evening in Kinsella room at 7:30 pm.

Everyone is welcome, as we come together to praise God through our words, and songs, to hear the word of God in scripture and to offer prayers of petition.

History

One of the many spiritual renewals within the Catholic Church, the Catholic Charismatic Renewal started in 1967 when a handful of students and university theology professors from Duquesne University got together for a retreat weekend.

From this small and inconspicuous beginning, the movement has grown to include 72 - 100 million Catholics worldwide (over 15 million in America)

It has official organizations in 235 countries around the world. Many believe that this work of the Holy Spirit is a direct result of Vatican II and Pope John XXIII's prayer: "O Holy spirit...pour forth the fullness of your gifts...renew your wonders in this our day as by a new Pentecost."

The Charismatic Renewal is also represented at the national and international levels, has offices in Rome and reports to the Vatican
