Welcome to Immaculate Conception Parish!

Welcome to the virtual home of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Truro, Nova Scotia. By our baptism we are disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ and members of His mystical body, the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

We share in the mission of the Church at Halifax: "To proclaim and spread the Kingdom of God, to be its beginning on earth, and to seek its completion of union in glory with Christ the King."

We are guided by the following Principles for a Parish Community:

  • The parish is defined as a definite community of the Christian faithful established on a stable basis within a particular church.

  • The parish community is in relationship with both the Archdiocese and the universal Church and is the place where the faithful can gather together for the Sunday celebration of the Eucharist. It initiates the Christian people into the ordinary expression of the liturgical life, gathers them together in celebration, teaches Christ's saving doctrine, and practices the charity of the Lord in good works and brotherly love.

  • Through baptism, the faithful are called to be disciples of Jesus - a discipleship that is rooted in the parish community. It is in the parish that we experience church and live out its mission to worship, to evangelize, and to carry out the works of charity and justice that reflect Jesus alive in our midst. It is the parish community that serves the world to make God's kingdom more present to our world. The parish, to be faithful to its mission, must respond to its actual environment or context.

  • The Catechism of the Catholic Church identifies three important areas that are at the heart of every parish community: Liturgy and Worship; Evangelization; and Justice and Charity.
